MDCC Men’s Dormitory – Thompson Dantone Hall

This project involved the construction of a two-story, 44,000-square-foot residence hall designed by Shafer Zahner Zahner Architects. Built on auger cast pile foundations with a cold-formed steel structure, brick veneer, and cast stone accents, the facility offers modern, durable student housing.

The electrical scope included new service distribution, switchgear, branch circuit wiring, LED and site lighting, fire alarm and life safety systems, and telecom raceways, with provisions for future upgrades. These systems were designed to ensure safety, energy efficiency, and support for student amenities.

Completed in 2025 for fall semester occupancy, the project’s electrical work was carefully sequenced with structural and architectural phases. Full system commissioning was completed before move-in, ensuring a fully operational facility.

Safety was a key priority, with zero recordable incidents. Daily safety analyses, toolbox talks, hazard assessments, and adherence to lock-out/tag-out and fall protection procedures ensured a safe job site. All electrical work met NEC and campus safety standards.

The dormitory enhances campus life by providing reliable, energy-efficient housing. Features like LED lighting with occupancy sensors reduce costs, while integrated life safety systems promote resident security. Completed on time and within budget, the project reflects strong coordination and craftsmanship, delivering lasting value to the college and its students.
